Little star

I did this sketch whilst thinking about an old favourite nursery rhyme. ‘Twinkle Twinkle’ was originally written as a poem called ‘The Star,’ by author Jane Taylor. It was published in London, in 1806. The original was much longer than versions commonly sung today.

I concentrated on two of the lesser-known couplets from the poem that struck me as particularly interesting – they have a mysterious feel that isn’t (to my mind) as evident in sung versions. I thought I’d try to capture some ideas I might use in a more finished illustration of the verse. I’ll enjoy making a more detailed set of images for this sweet little rhyme šŸ™‚
